Leaky top cylinders

Recommended Posts

The cylinders on my '62 Skylark leak, and I have to add fluid about once a week when I'm driving the car. Are these rebuildable? Do they take any special parts, or can I get parts at a hydraulic supply house? If it's special, where can I get parts? Does a rebuild usually work, or should I just replace them? (shafts look fine) Where can I get replacements? Is the top manageable if I pull the cylinders?

What kind of fluid are you using in your hydraulic top system? Do not use brake fluid as it is hydoscopic (sp)(attracts water) and very corosive to paint etc. Always use ATF in the system. Call Buick World at (360)825-3787 and talk to Jim Macy, they have replacement cylinders etc. and the best prices. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
