modela28
My friend is restoring a 1939 Standard Coupe. He was planning to buy an upholstery kit from Cartouche, but found out yesterday that they are now out of business. Is there another supplier for upholstery kits for these cars? Thanks, Dan
19tom40
SMS may have a kit for the 1939 Coupe. They do not have a good reputation for delivering the kits, but seem to deliver the material after a short wait. Another source for the material is Classtique. If he still has fabric on the seats, a good upholstery shop can make new covers for the seats.
modela28
Thanks for your reply 19tom40. I checked Classtique's website and they only list Model T and A upholstery. Thanks, Dan
jpage
With the demise of LeBaron Bonney, I'm afraid that we are all pretty much up to our own devises when it comes to Ford interior kits. He'll probably have to find a good upholstery shop or get brave and attempt doing it himself! I wish him luck!
trimacar
Supposedly, SMS has the Lebaron Bonney patterns for interiors, bought when LB went out of business. I’ve heard of year plus waits for orders from SMS, though, and that’s with money paid up front. Correct upholstery work is getting harder and harder to find, and a lot of shops like to stick to tops and interior work where kits or seat covers are readily available, and they stay away from custom work (and yes, even a stock interior is a “custom” job and takes many more hours than a kit).
