1936 Desoto Airstream Hood Hinge

Can anyone post a photo of what finish it should be or let me know details about this long hinge.

When the bonnet / hood (from Australia) is closed the centre strip "C" part looks to be chromed.

Under the bonnet the flap parts of the hinge that rivet to bonnet metalwork should that be chromed or painted the same color as the under bonnet color?

I am guessing all chromed.

Upper is chrome, riveted portion is body colour.

On my "36 Dodge, the main outer section was chrome plated and the inner hinge was plated in what looked to be zinc. All 3 of my cars were the same. When I restored mine, I just had both pieces chromed.

Thanks John, i am going to the plating guy on Monday and think that is best solution.

Were the rivets brass or copper that held it in place. Peter

I would just use new tube type rivets and leave them natural color. Let the plater know not to go heavy on the inner hinge so they will fit together without binding.
