This checks most of my boxes. I personally believe it is worth about $25,000 but I can’t afford it.  What’s up with the chrome band behind the rear seats?

B. Jake:

The bucket seat and console were the optional "Sports Package", the chrome trim around the rear bucket-style seats as one of the luxury details.

As far as price, although the 1964 Mercury's typically don't command the prices the concurrent Ford Galaxie XL500 do, this top-line, highly-optional-equipped 1964 Mercury Park Lane convertible would be more worthy of it than most any we've seen.

Definitely a cool looking machine. If it were not a convertible it would loose a lot of pizaaz!

The convertible definitely has appeal, but I wouldn't

mind an excellent hardtop (2 doors or 4) with the

"Breezeway" operable rear window.  It would be more

affordable, then, too!

Mimics the stainless band behind the front seats?

Dress-up to make Mercury more flashy than Ford?

1960s were about "PIZZAZ" - I wuz there - and still like some of it in the right place !
