VW4X4
I the last 50 years of messing around with vehicles I've only seen one other distributor like this one: It has two sets of points, and requires two external coils. The first, was on a (Siata) Fiat 8V engine that I had rebuilt. That engine was a disaster, and very poorly designed. Can anyone identify what this is off of? I suspect the same, in its design.. The main body in heavy cast iron, and its fairly large. Screw on wire terminals. Anyone have any idea what this fits?

Original equipment on all 1933-34 8 cyl. Packards. Usually there‘s an ID tag on the distributor housing but I guess it is missing. Points, caps and rotors are hard to find. That‘s probably why someone modified and installed an Auto-Lite contact arm (just noticed that one of the contact arms is AL and not NE). Delco-Remy took over North-East around 1930. That‘s why cap and rotor were actually designed by Delco-Remy. Lincoln, Duesenberg and 1928 Packards used similar caps on DR distributors. But the cap on this NE distributor was exclusively made for the 1933-34 Packards.
VW4X4
Thanks to everyone who replied... We also located a 33 Packard on this farm. SO, I have to assume it belongs to this Packard....... Thanks again....... This form is a great resource... Judging from the distributor and generator/water pump assy it could be 1929-30 Pierce-Arrow….(?) …..not only P/A used this type of cap (Delco-Remy) but as far as I know P/A was the only passenger car to use it….(Ed?). …..just noticed the generator is missing…..and wasn’t the WP bolted to generator on P//A….(?)
