Had one for my first car and have wanted another since it got totalled in 1980,I had a wagon and have a 4 door but I have to have another 2 door hard top.  Its kind of rough and hope to find another rolling shell but ot could be fixed if I can not find another that is better.  390 4 bbl and power steering,it has the original heads and intake but not sure of the block since it has a later C-6 trans and a later harmonic balancer.

My personal fave is the 64. Either Ford XL or Mercury Marauder. But these ones are great as well. I grew up watching Nascar, all  Fords from this era were top contenders. Just stir in a good dose of Holman and Moody.

This car came from the factory painted Acadian blue with a blue cloth and vinyl interior but now has a red vinyl interior and is in primer,30 years ago I seen a mint one sitting in front of a union hall in Springfield Ohio in that color and interior so I looked at the title and that is where this car came from.  I hope its not the same car as the one I seen years ago was very mint and looked to be a 20,000 mile car,the mileage on it is a little over 49,000 miles and the numbers are all in a straight line so it could be correct but it had a rough life and can not imagine someone doing that of its the same car.  If it is someone turned it into a daily driver and ran it to death.

I planned on using it for a drivetrain donor on a better body but the frame is not as bad as I initially thought so if I do not find anything over the winter I will try to save it.  The floors are good and the rust in the trunk floor is near the rear body mounts and found one in the local old junkyard that is good in that spot snd found one in another junkyard that has the trim pieces its missing and will be grabbing those parts next weekend.

My brothers had a 65 Comet when they were in hs. It sat in the field beside our house for awhile until dad made them sell it. They called it a 'special factory race car'. Said it was factory built and very rare. It had no drive train at the time. The guy they bought it from also had a factory lightweight f100. I often wonder if that Comet was an A/FX car.

Good luck with your project and you're definitely living up to your username with all that junkyard hunting you've been doing.

Back in the 80's and 90's my Dad owned 3 '64 Galaxies.

A 4 door hard top 500XL, a 2 door hard top 500 and a 2 door hard top 500XL.

Great driving cars for being such land yachts.

I've always liked them and they were very new car in 65. I always wondered why they seldom show up in the hobby. That was until I read an article that said that the car "that was quieter then a Rolls Royce" had a particular affinity for rust. This car does look like one that was on this forum previously? At that time I took the time to do a Craigslist search of the western US and then the whole US and found nothing. Finding a better one may be difficult. A word to the wise go west young man and if you find the right car don't let geography interfere. It just may be the only one you find!

I do have a 4 door that can be a donor for the frame but I think it can be repaired,I need to see if patch panels are made for the quarters but have all winter.  I will most likely save it as I know there are none locally that are any better that are reasonably priced,I have seen people trying to get over 3000 for a 4 door with a rusty frame so I think I done real well for 500 dollars.

Found most of the missing trim at a old junkyard yesterday and today while going through the garage I found a 2 speed wiper motor and wiring harness so all I will have to get is the switches.  Also found  door lock cylinders it was missing and will have they key made to fit them, found a good section of the trunk floor it needs and will cut it out in a couple weeks.
