#1 The odometers never seem to work.

#2 The six cylinders seem to have issues.

#3 The brakes are difficult.

#4 They are a blast to drive, especially if you have the DOHC with the five speeds.

I also had issues with the power antenna and the top hold downs.

All the other stuff is as expected on 30 plus years old (modern) cars.

The DOHC is one of the cars that I wish I had kept when I needed some cash.

These don't really live up to the investment hype that Hemmings gave them some years ago.

But it's the fun factor that is more important to me anyway.

I would love to find another 89 with the manual transmission at a reasonable price.

There is a guy on these forums that has stuff for these.

I think he is in Arizona, but memory fails me right now.

I bought a clutch cable from him years ago.

Based on your pictures, the light yellow with ginger interior is a 1989, the black with ginger interior is a 1991.  You have two TC's. You tell us about them.

First wanna say I’m definitely not a mechanic and not very knowledgeable as most of you are. I’ve joined the TCA club spoke with various people even on here it’s actually hard to get answers or understand so if it’s anyone who really knows about these cars and not just talking to sound like a mechanic I would greatly appreciate it to exchange emails or possibly numbers. You can inbox me or email your info so that I can reach out. It’s hard to follow half the stuff on here lol. My email is frye80@gmail.com look forward to hearing from someone with the real knowledge!

Need to know which 'turn lights' are not working. The amber lights in the front bumper (one bulb only) and the red turn lights in the taillamps (one bulb only) are the ones that flash, the clear turn lights next to the headlamps will stay lit up when the other turn lights are flashing but don't actually flash themselves. If the brake lamps in the taillamps are working then the turn signal switch in the steering column is probably OK, first thing is to make sure the light sockets themselves are clean so you have a good ground. Also don't forget to check the flasher unit for the turn signals, it is a separate unit from the emergency flashers. The second bulbs in the amber front and red rear lamps should only light up with the parking lights.

The shop said it was the turn signal switch. Brake lights except for the trunk top light works. Headlights and high beams work as well. Thanks for the info I’ll check into those things.

I have sort of the same issue, the front left amber flasher is not working the bulb is good and flashes with the hazard switch the rear signal works but at half the speed of the right turn signals that work fine.

Is there two flasher units, one for left and one for right?  Where would they, it be located to test or replace?   THANKS

If the outside turn signal flashes slower than normal it usually is the turn signal flashing unit that’s defective.

If the hazard warning flashers are normal, then it’s definitely the turn signal flashing unit. The hazard flasher

is mounted on fuse block. The turn signal flasher is mounted on left side of center, under dash.

Thank you,

Are there one or two (flasher unit one for right and one for left) considering the right signal works fine.

No, there is not a flasher unit for left and another for right. You need to clean all bulb holders and ground wires for the system. Get an electronic flasher unit for the turn signals rather than a thermal flasher unit. Make sure all bulbs are the correct ones for the car.

Does anybody know why the fuse for the cooling fan keeps blowing out and causes the car to overheat? I’ve just replaced another radiator due to it. The shop is telling me they are trying to find out why the fuse keeps shorting for the fan anyone familiar with this?!! On the 91 TC
