marcapra
I'm having a problem with my 48 DeSoto clutch linkage. When I press down on the clutch pedal, it gets kinked and doesn't come back up. Here's a short video showing the problem.
Rusty_OToole
You could take up some of the side play by putting a couple of washers on the shaft. The other may respond to an adjustment of the linkage. Do you have a repair manual? It should have something to say on this score.
marcapra
I solved the side play issue by hammering the shaft in a little bit and tightening the MC bolts more. I don't have a clue about the kink in the linkage. I used the C-705 tool to adjust the overcenter spring with the turnbuckle. I do have the manual and I have watched the filmstrip on clutches from Chrysler. https://mymopar.com/mtsc-1948-volume-2-4-a-good-man-in-the-clutch/
marcapra
I took the fork rod and clutch release pull-back spring off. I did this because it seems the clutch release bearing is extremely tight. Is it supposed to be this tight? If not, I guess I have to pull the drive shaft and transmission to investigate. marcapra
Just wondering if I have the correct clutch fork pull-back spring here. It is 7 3/4" long.
