Who’s Saoutchik S? Always liked them but yellow. If that’s original color it says something.

The gray car that won Best Of Show a few years ago carried the same yellow and red when it was restored in the late 1970, it came in with those colors. Are the two exact twins or very similar? If the yellow one lived on Long Island the underside of the trunk or top lid are engine turned. Great to see all the photos. Is that Dieter Holterbosch car you are referring to?

Yes, I saw it in Del's Body Shop back in the 1970s, Ferrari 002 and 004 were there as well side by side. Photos are etched in my memory, I didn't have a camera at the time.

It’s Holterbosch’s car……..he had it for 55 years. Remarkably intact and untouched till after he sold it. The new restoration used original paint on the chassis and scraps of original upholstery to get the colors right. It’s now back to its as new delivered condition. I think it looks much better than it did in silver. I much prefer it over any 500 or 540 K cars that are here this week. Walking into the RM showroom was fairly astounding when one looks at all the heavy iron. It’s probably the most heavily loaded auction in 30 years for big pre war cars. Not anywhere near as much important American cars around. It’s clearly much busier here than in the past ten years. More people, more super cars and old cars driving around than in the past. Early on I thought the cars with the stars would fall flat and ruin the market…….it seems there may be enough people here to absorb all the stuff……..tonight we will find out. Watch the RM live stream starting around 5 west coast time………..the pace should be slow if they work each car as a typical big boy toy, but possibly they will move it along quickly.

Below are photos from Moto Lux. A crazy car and jet party with all sorts of lifestyle displays. Tickets are 750 each. Managed to find three on the ground and crashed the event. Took my partners in crime with me.

Great photos of great cars thanks A.J. !!!  but some of the color choices are from the disco era , sha boom  sha boom in your face. There must have been a discount sale on red paint over the past few months when final color coats were being applied. What was the old adage "resale red" !

I love the airplane in the blue with elaborate paint flow. OUTSTANDING . A creation that one has to stand back with no obstructions to really get the whole affect of .

We talked to the guys with the seaplane. That was pretty cool. They had a bunch of Mayer Manx dune buggies around the plane, and a tail fin of a plane had Meyers Manx on it. You could’ve climbed up the ladder and taking a tour, which I should’ve done.

I think that plane may be what is referred to as a DUCK. Jimmy Buffet has one he crashed and credits taking a US Navy survival crash course for saving his live. He restored it and it’s now on display at one of his bars. I will say blue is not a great color for a sea plane if it has to land in the ocean because of an engine failure.

I bet they thought of that, as it looks like most of what's on top is painted white.

May I ask what car you and Ed are riding/driving this year?  Hope you’re  not at the very back of the line and Ed doesn’t have to go to work on anyone’s car that doesn’t make it. Great pics please keep them coming.

Car shows are more fun when you don’t bring a car. We have no car this year.

Much sportier in silver.   The yellow canvas spare tire cover gives the whole car that homemade car look

Looks like Bill Murray and Jackie Gleason

My first thought was Art Carney must be dating Janet Napolitano....  after I put my cheaters on I realized his hair was too long to be Janet.

Sorry Ed, my bad... It's obvious we are just jealous and have to get our digs in since you're living our dreams ;)

Seriously though,... you guys deserve it for all your hard work, expertise and dedication to the hobby. Thanks for all your input and advice over the years. Good to see you guys enjoying your time at the greatest show on earth!

Incredible dash on that Bentley. I'm sure the craftsmanship looks even better in person...

I've never seen a Bentley like this before, can anyone shed some light on it? Is it custom or factory and what year is it?

Thanks
Dave
