If you are determined to use one of these epoxy "quick fix" products, there are much better choices. They are all industrial products, not available at the local DIY store and, generally much more expensive but you get what you pay for.

I am dealing with some problems with bakelite and pot metal. I used loctite super glue. It does not dry real fast and is clear. With the bakelite pieces you can barely see where it is joined. Also just as strong. I have some pot metal pieces at the top of the steering wheel that had lots of cracks in them. You can pour this stuff in the crack and it will go all the way down the crack. Probably stronger than the original!

While we are talking about epoxies etc, one little trick that might be useful for filling small dings. Fill it with super glue and sprinkle baking soda onto the glue. It instantly hardens and can be sanded or shaped........Bob
