In Manhattan? It probably would have cost him $500 to take it out and bring it back inside. He probably spends more on that parking spot than I pay for my car payment.

I have seen this car on and off for over 20 years in that corner spot of the garage.

As a daily subway commuter into Manhattan, I would jump at the chance to drive to work on a Saturday when year-end accounting deadlines required overtime. I could drive from Queens to this garage in about 30-40 minutes depending on weather and traffic. (The daily commute on the subway could take anywhere from 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs depending on system delays and weather.) I always tried to park next to this car: 1) because this car rarely moved and; 2) I figured the owner would be careful opening his door and not bang into my car.

For awhile, I actually thought this car was abandoned. I'm glad to see the owner has cleaned it up.

btw, where have all the Mercury Custom convertibles gone? It seems the majority of 1963 Comet convertibles for sale are the S-22 model.
