HIBrown Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I am mechanically challenged. Battery appears dead and will not take a charge. AAA came and they put the heavy duty cranking/starting power pack on the battery. the key was not even in the ignition and the starter began to turn but the engine did not start. Then I put the key in and he reattached the power pack and I started the engine, it did run, but when he removed the pack it ran another few seconds and died. Same thing happened again with the ignition off. Any ideas? Also, is there anything locking the battery in place. I disconnected it but am unable to pull iy out? Thanks in advance!
Barney Eaton Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I have never removed a battery from a TC but most modern batteries are held in place with one bolt (often 13mm hex) that locks a plastic clamp. It will be on one of the long sides of the battery at the bottom. Remove the bolt and plastic clamp/bracket and the battery should lift out.
Garnet & Gold Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 On the fire wall side of the battery at the bottom of the battery is a bolt that holds a metal clip down. It may be buried under some of the cables for the battery. I would show you a picture but mine is buried under the cable wires.
Nile Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 A hopefully helpful hint; the TC battery cables are not flexible and will try to revert to their original positions which can not only make battery removal & installation more difficult, but also cause sparking when installing the new battery. Just wrap each terminal with some plastic and use anything from a bungee cord to plain old string to tie them out of the way until you have the new battery in and are ready to reconnect. 1
