Jim Burd
I have a problem with the right holddown on my 1990 softtop not engaging. I've lubricated the mechanism, checked that the mechanism has free travel, appears to work in conjunction with the one on the left, but does not engage. Thoughts? Nile
Jim - This is a long shot, but did the "rod" with the detente that latches into the mechanism get twisted? - Nile
Jim Burd
I checked and does not appear to be. I had a suggestion to reset the mechanism higher on that side and see if that helps. Will try that. Thanks.
Jim Burd
I reset the mechanism as high as possible. It catches, but slips loose way too quickly and easily. I'm next going to see if I can adjust the lockdown pin on the softtop to see if that helps.
Jim Burd
I put a washer under the outside mounting screw of the pin on the softtop to change angle of intersection and it is engaging now. Now I need to install new plastic housing on pulldown motor and make sure it works. Fun never ceases. Still chasing isue on third brake light. Have power to light strip, so going to drill out mounting rivets, clean connections and see if that fixes issue.
