Fox W.
Does anyone by chance have a complete very good condition fuel sending unit for an 89? (Or NOS is even better) I haven't been able to find one anywhere. Thanks.
Barney Eaton
If the steel lines are the problem (rusted) then you need a replacement.... however if it is just the inside tank sending unit those can be repaired. All GM cars used similar units and with a good sending unit you can repair yours.
DAVES89
I installed a Dorman 692-102. It physically an exact replacement but your fuel reading will be off [in my case about 3 gallons] on a tank. I fill up my car completely and just track gallons used through the CRT. Or Jim Finn probably has a good used one.
Fox W.
Hey guys, yeah I've tried to repair this one several times. It isn't the variable resistor or anything like that, it's physically just broken and rigged together. Someone also had cut the original lines at the top and hacked things together. I'd like to just replace it all with a good unit.

Barney Eaton
I have intended to make this list for some time..... fuel sending unit part numbers. E & K = Eldorado and Seville since I have a parts book for them and they use the same fuel tank. You could probably modify any of these to work... hard to say what the actual difference is for each part number but an example is the Reatta convertible lines are shorter than the coupe. I suspect inside the tank part is the same on all these units. Barney Eaton
Here are a couple of photos that give you an idea of the differences.... which are all outside the tank.
padgett
Thank you, have the 4th line covered. Are the connectors the same ?
Barney Eaton
I believe the hard lines have one style of connector (screw fitting) and the plastic lines have the snap connector.
padgett
Sorry, meant the electrical conector.
Jim
I didn't really read the above comments but the '88-89s used steel lines and the '90-91, -93 used plastic lines. The electrical connectors are the same on all years. The Cadillac ones Dave referred to will work but the resistor is of a different value so the gauge will not work correctly. Yesterday I removed two sending units from Reattas and am pretty sure i have a good one available . I will test the gauge sending units today to make sure they are working. Never replace a sending unit without replacing the fuel pump and do not use a cheap pump, because of the work to drop and replace the tank, put in a good quality pump.
