These are the 1917 editions but include information on cars and trucks from their earlier editions (1909, 1910, 1912, 1915, 1916). Each book measures about 8" by 6" and each contains about 300 pages. The mechanical features of virtually every make of pre-1917 automobiles are discussed in great length ranging Model Ts to Locomobiles (and everything in between!) as well as accessories, etc. There are hundreds of drawings, illustration plates and engraving plates throughout. This complete five volume set has an incredible wealth of automotive information. These were published by the American Technical Society of Chicago. Included in this set are: Volume 1 : Motors, welding, valve gears, carburetors, transmissions Volume 2: Chassis, running gear, driving, road troubles, repairs Volume 3: Ignition, Starting, Lighting, Wiring Diagrams, Motorcycles Volume 4: Electrics, Storage cells, Repairs, Steam Cars, Motorboats Volume 5: Delivery cars, Trucks, Tractors, Special Cars, Index These appear to have leather covers. The leather covers are worn, but all of the internal pages are in excellent and clean condition. The price for the set of five is 225.00 including shipping within the USA.
