Songs with highways in their lyrics

The original post says "highway in the lyrics" but all the answers have been "highway in the title". 😉

Highway Star - Deep Purple

Roll on Down the Highway - BTO

Rockin' Down the Highway - Doobie Brothers

Now for songs with "highway" in the LYRICS, there's Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Looking for adventure
In whatever comes our way

I give you Bruce Springsteen's Tweeter & The Monkey Man.......They knew that they found freedom just across the Jersey Line
So they hopped into a stolen car, took Highway 99

Bill, I believe Tweeter and The Monkey Man was a Dylan contribution to the Traveling Wilbury's, and not a Springsteen song

“Super-Charger Heaven” by White Zombie mentions our most famous highway-Route 66.

probably not too many Rob Zombie fans in here, but in any case, it goes like this:

….Jesus lived his life in a cheap hotel on the edge of Route 66 yeah!

I was at Ozzfest. I think they shot a live video for more human than human there.🤘

YES! ....Boy I really blew that one! LOL  Actually one of my favorite songs.

I know how I did it, I had Springsteen's "Atlantic City"  on my mind thinking their was a highway 99 reference in it but there was not!

I will replace my Springsteen Gaff with a different song of his "Open All Night" with the lines:

"Turnpikes sure spooky at night when your all alone"

                           &

"I met Wanda when she was employed
Behind the counter at the Route 60 Bob's Big Boy"

A definitely COOL car song!

God bless

Bill

It's easy to do Springsteen biggest influence is Dylan, and in some songs it is almost inseparable, This happens with some Byrds and Tom Petty material as well, I had seen Roger McGuiin the other night in a small venue in NY and he said he was in a studio in Florida and heard American Girl being demoed and he told his agent " I don't remember writing this" his agent then told him you didn't so the artist even gets fooled.

Jim Croce, Speeball Tucker  (hey its got tucker in the name too!)

He has another song with lyrics saying something to the effect "95 is the route you were on, not the speed limit sign".

I can hear the song over in my head but cant place the name. I started to listen to my older sisters JC albums when I was about 8 or 9. One of the reasons why I wanted to learn to play guitar.
