1952 Cheiftain, excellent condition inside and out, straight eight engine with a hydra-fluid drive, runs great, drives down the road straight. Car is a favorite everywhere it goes. Buy these old cars in the best condition that your pocket book allows.  All them issues on a lesser quality car will cost you more in the long run.

My High School years red straight-Eight stick shift 1949 Pontiac convertible was a pleasure to cruise through 1959-1960 and a "Catskills summer", before heading off to college where 

the "No Wife, No Horse, No Mustache" rule was in-force.

 

This example seems a decent and affordable driveable dream.
