Scott Bonesteel
https://bid.aandoauctions.com/lots/view/5-A6SQC/pr-packard-goddess-of-speed-stone-panels Maybe you can't afford the two stone tablets Moses came down from the mountain with but perhaps some of the Packard folks would be interested in these, claimed to have been taken from Packard dealership. Auction in early June I believe. 2
Guest
Interesting pieces. It would be nice if the auction site offered a little more info on them, like which dealership they came from.

Auction I believe is in Atlanta Georgia so unless somebody schlepped those two big stones all the way there, I would assume they are from the Southeast. Pricey but pretty neat. prewarnut
I dunno... It's possible that they were installed somewhere (probably actually opposing each other within a pediment) given the chamfered side. However note that the original patent is earlier than their advertised 1938. The original late '20s mascot had 8 pleats to the wings not 7 here. Also on most the torso is at a ~45 degree angle (these lean forward more) and were much more modest (less busty) as expected for an upscale, conservative car. The two faces on these are slightly dissimilar and wings not the same size and furthermore, and usually, the head should be cocked back further with a more prominant chin. I agree more research needed before bidding high...I'm not ready to call B.S. but close....

Terry Bond
I doubt they were provided by Packard. I think they were created when the building was constructed. The artist will remain unknown.
Guest
Probably shouldn't be too difficult to find a picture of the original dealership?
3macboys
I just looked up on Street View the Atlanta Packard dealership building that has since been torn but from 2007 it is evident that these did not come off that building. I was only guessing at Atlanta as that is where the auction house is. Being heavy I wouldn't think that these have been moved a huge distance from where they originated but who knows. 1937hd45
Any good running $2,000 van or pick up could have moved them to any spot in North America. B. S are also my initials. Bob
TheMoneyPit
They were on eBay a while back with no bidders as well. They were discussed on Facebook but I don’t remember there being any additional information of value… https://www.ebay.com/itm/154899737825?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=HFztdQyPS3W&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=pnvMnNjyRmG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Edited May 28, 2022 by TheMoneyPit (see edit history)
wayne sheldon
eBay listing had an opening bid (no bid) of $7000. The additional pictures did not help much.
West Peterson
I'm pretty sure they came out of an Atlanta dealership. They were owned by a friend for many, many years. He died in February, and his son is selling them.
