Trooper stops U-Haul truck with car hanging out the back

Recommended Posts

OKANOGAN, Wash. — One driver used quite an interesting way to transport their car.

An Okanogan Trooper performed a traffic stop on a U-Haul truck carrying a car out the back of it. The truck was traveling on State Route 97, just north of Okanogan.

While some comments argue that the maneuver was legal, the driver was fined and both the U-Haul and car were impounded.

The driver was cited for failing to secure their load with safety chains, resulting in a $139 fine. The driver’s license was also suspended and the U-Haul rental was long overdue, causing both vehicles to be impounded.

Regardless, it was certainly a surprising scene for troopers and drivers traveling on SR 97.

I did that right after I got married ( forty years ago Sunday) moving to Florida from Illinois but it was a larger u-haul truck and the wife's amc spirit was completely inside. The difficult part was unloading it when we got to Florida. What a trip,no a/c and her collie with us in the front seat drooling and panting the whole way!
