Tonz
Just did the valve lash on my 26 Chrysler 50. Interesting job, had to make room by dropping carb and linkages, then had to modify and invent spanners to help make the settings. I don't know how anyone else does it, but I found using three spanners at same time ... whilst bent over the huge front guard it's not gonna happen. So I made a flat tappet holder tool, then ground one spanner to 3mm thickness and used one normal spanner. Eventually I found the trick was to crack locknut, then slightly tighten it so there was a bit of friction on the adjuster nut. After that the other seven were straight forward. After years of setting valves on motorcycles the old Kawasaki z1 with shims under cams was the biggest PIA. In comparison this job was fun. I'd like to know if anyone has a better was of doit this job. Cheers
