National NY Central Railroad Museum, Elkhart IN

No automobiles here, but lots of good train stuff. It’s close to the Studebaker museum in South Bend and not far from the ACD museum in Auburn. There is a big steam engine you can climb on and a diesel-electric one, plus many rail cars. Inside, much railroadiana and history of the NY Central. Plenty for kids to do, including fantastic operating model railroad. My wife enjoyed it, too. Located near huge rail yard, and busy tracks are only a few feet away. Elkhart is a nice small town, has good restaurants.
