Walt G
Thanks to the efforts of Frank Wilkie I was able to buy and restore this cast iron manifold plate that sits on the top of the exhaust manifold of a V8 LaSalle . It is held to the manifold by 4 screws and according to my friend Steve Babinsky the screws are often fused to the manifold due to the heat. I was so happy to be able to add this to my collection of odd bits and bobs. It is about 4 1/2 inches in diameter.
TexRiv_63
Was it originally painted or enameled?
Walt G
Painted, no evidence of any enamel . It sat on the top center of the V in the V8 engine, if you find photos of a engine of that era you can see it . Apparently many of these plates are bashed up when trying to be removed as the screws holding them in place are difficult to get loose as mentioned.
