JamesR
Interesting. I'm not sure I understand the crude pickup truck looking running boards. Would there have been a purpose for those on a flower car? Or are they some misguided aftermarket add-on? The major conversion itself isn't all that bad. To me, the diamond-plate running boards look like a crude after-market addition. They shouldn't even be needed, since the vehicle has the lowness of a car. When this vehicle was new, from what I've seen, it would have been very expensive--a showpiece of an upscale funeral home. After it lost its allure, maybe someone treated it as a utility vehicle and installed the diamond plates.
58L-Y8
Another survivor of that unfortunate fad during the late 1970's-early 1980's of converting two door luxury cars into fancy pick-up trucks. There were customizing outfits that specialized in this foolishness to profit from bad taste. Like the one-time joke that it was among the 'wealthy' that thought a Cadillac or Lincoln pick-up was clever or cute at the country club, these miserable messes quickly became unsaleable used cars after the first owner was onto the next fad. Poor thing.
