Mattml430
We started our spirit of the twenties today at the Maciden car club and then a night run to Ballarat. Great fun but the car travels quicker than the headlights. Bit over 50 cars have entered so should be a great week of rallying. I’ll try keep up with some pics for everyone.

Unfortunately work took precedence when we lived in Melbourne. Maybe next year.

Minibago
Thanks Mike, we have a lot of rocks kicked up by passing trucks so covers are necessary when travelling.
Mattml430
We had a great day with good weather and were privileged to visit Warren Harris’s stationary engine display at his house. He has them all cranked up for us ticking away. I could sit and look at those old steam engines for hours. we drove around Ballarat outskirts for the rest of the day and had to do a hill climb on the way home. We had to guess what gear we would use going up. Obviously I was able to cheat with the overdrive in the roadster using it in 2nd gear a couple of times to keep a good speed up. 😁. we are of to Ararat today for a local car display.
Minibago
One of those engines would pull your car up any hill without breaking a sweat
Mattml430
Breakfast at Wendouree lake park. Hard to see all the cars in one picture. I think there was 43 cars there. Doing the fuel economy run to Ararat. We lost that I took a wrong turn so we added about 20 km to the trip. Not that I would of had a chance anyway.

Ahh. I did use the pano view but maybe a bit closer would of been better. 😂
Mattml430
We started the day in Ararat in the Main Street all lined up for the Anzac parade. “God bless them.” Then a day of relaxation and going to the zoo. Finished of at Barny’s outback bistro and bar 20 mile out of Ararat. They feed over a hundred of us seamlessly with a great meal and awesome atmosphere. The Victory parked next to a Chrysler 75 coupe. Very nice car. Had a good night run back to the motel without hitting any Roo’s. The old girls love that cold night air they just seem to fly along.
Mattml430
Had another good run today through western Victoria’s grain fields. Field after field after field. They are absolutely massive, it helps you understand why they make tractors so large. They need them. Stop at a museum today at Rupanyup along the way and checked out everything there. Saw almost everything there from our childhood and more. I’ve never seen a collection of so much stuff. Bits of everything old. Then it was onto the stick shed which is a grain storage shed built in the war years. 1941. Took only four months to build. Was still in use until 1989 and is now heritage listed. It was pretty cool to see. 630 odd poles in there made from Victorian ash. Staying in Horsham tonight and of to Hamilton tomorrow. The roadster is going great so far I’m very happy how she is running on her first big rally. 1 year today since she’s been back on the road and 1180 miles clocked up on the odometer. Could call that run in now I reckon.
Minibago
Nice to see you enjoying the car now after all the setbacks. Our old car fraternity seem to take us to all sorts of places we would not normally visit, hopefully you will visit the old garage in Penshurst if you are visiting Hamilton.
Mattml430
We have started heading home today from the rally as poor old Judes back got really pounded on a couple of the old roads we went on over the past few days. We were hoping it would be ok but I don’t want to keep going while she is so sore. Every bump hurts her. We are back in Ballarat tonight and will be home tomorrow. The job Annette and her girls have done putting this rally together has been a credit to them, we have seen some great things along the way. It’s been an absolute ball. We are so sorry we can’t continue the rest of the way.
Minibago
Sorry to hear, that is the problem we face with our painful ailments, the dirt roads and lumps and bumps cause lasting discomfort. I applaud your decision to look after Jude’ in preference to the rally. 🏆
