George Waters
I have a 1930 u133 with a hannum 4 steering box. I had a local machinist put new bushings in for the output shaft the inner bearings were ok after cleaning. I don't have the truck running now,but hat is one thing that is fixed. stakeside
This an extra box like on my truck. Looks like “L-1”. there is an adjustment here?
stakeside
I was able to take out excessive free play of The steering wheel using the slotted head adjustment on the side. Look at pic #2 of previous post I made. I believe earlier steering box used slims instead of side adjustment of the improved Hannum unit. My original owners manual show the earlier box and described the use of the slims. what steering box do you have Tom?
ArticiferTom
I have sector gear worm type used on cars . You also have the adjustment on the tube on yours for the thrust of worm . However doubt whether it wears much . Do you need copy of pic from MPL for trucks book showing parts .

Maybe this will help from the DA120 instruction book I have this manual also. Note the use of shims used to adjust gear in leu of the adjustment slotted head screw on side of the HANNUM box. I will assume to just adjust till just snug .
ArticiferTom
I believed you are all talking part number 23 not the plug number13 . lightly snug .sound good . You can see when it is loose pitman will move in and out . Modern Jeep' s used a spring system behind screw to keep contant pressure .
