Wow! that is one rare car.

The 614 production number makes it the lowest production 64 Mercury. Even less than Park Lane convertibles with bucket seats.

Bucket seats were more appropriate for a sportier style like the fastbacks (2 & 4 door) and the convertible.

Buckets were not available in the breezeway 4 door. (hardtop or sedan)

Plus notice that despite the console, the shifter is on the column? This means that it has the incredibly rare Swing Away wheel!! Yeah the same feature that is found on Thunderbirds 61 to 66. Available on Galaxies and Mercurys, but seldom, seldom seen.  (of course they get loose and floppy and dangerously FALL out of Park and into Reverse so you really would not want one)

So neat car with two very rare attributes. . . . . Sadly I dont think it adds much to the value however.  😢

The only 64 Mercury that would be more rare, would be if it had an original 427 engine, and THAT certainly would add to the value.

Source:  The Cars of Lincoln-Mercury by Dammann and Wagner, page 367, caption describing 1963 options:

"New options catalogue for the year included the Thunderbird-pioneered Swing-Away Steering Wheel, tachometer, fully-transistorized AM-FM radio..."

The Swing-Away Steering Wheel option is mentioned as carrying over for 1964.   No take-rate sales numbers are given for how popular this option was, though one might surmise very low.

The bucket seats and console option, regardless of what series it was order for, was named the "Park Lane Sports Package"
