Post count required - PM authorization

I respectfully don’t understand why I don’t have enough posts for PM authorization.  I thought posting of “Not Mine” autos for sale would be one of a number of legitimate ways to generate posts and by my count I’m now around 40 posts based on the listing on my account page.  Am I missing something?  Are some types of posts ignored for counting purposes?  My profile page stayed at 3 posts for several months and now has recently increased to 7.  Does the post counter cover all types of posts? An explanation would be much appreciated.

I’m guessing it’s due to scammers trying to contact people advertising for parts or cars wanted........what number that allows it to work ......I have no clue. Guessing it’s some standard Internet forum quantity.

I’ve seen other references to 14 posts being the magic PM number...it’s the counting of posts that seems to be shrouded in mystery

On other web sites I am familiar with, spammer prevention restrictions are continually changing. And need to be.

It's 14.  Once you have 14 posts you can PM.

 

I get people dislike and are frustrated by this restriction.  But infinitely more people dislike and are frustrated by PM spam.
