EmTee
FYI, I looked through the online Gates hose catalog to find a conventional, contemporary hose that I could buy to use as an upper hose for the radiator on my '38 Century. I didn't want to cut-up the reproduction original-style hose in order to install my Gano filter. Additionally, the reproduction hose has a 'wrapped' construction (i.e., the outside is not smooth like a modern hose) and consequently is quite stiff. Since adding the Gano filter by itself will remove some of the available 'flex', I wanted something with a little more 'give'. In the end, I found that the Gates #22439 had the right ID (1.62 inches) and includes a straight section that's 5 1/2 inches long, which is at least 1/2 inch more than necessary. Best part is I found one at Home Depot (of all places...) which was delivered to my door in 3 days for $12. Thought someone might want to know...
