alsancle
You will see 10 GTOs for every one of these and this is in unique sort of original shape. Had a buddy in HS with one, but not sure he ever finished it. This would have been a great car to have. In fact, I still would like to have it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/194754439810 1966 Chevelle SS396 Documented Unrestored Original Survivor Protect-O-Plate and original owner's manual (plus some old records and pictures) Numbers Matching 396 engine rated at 325 hp (suffix code EDH) Regal Red Exterior (R-R) and Red Bucket Seat Interior (750-B) Mostly original paint and all original interior Mileage of 89,000 as shown may be original miles Complete original drivetrain (see pics for engine stamp, vin, transmission, and rear end) Options include bucket seats, console, gauges, 4 speed, clock, knee knocker tach, rear antenna. Runs and drives nice, pulls hard, very smooth ride (**although engine has a knock**) No leaks, squeaks, rattles, or vibrations Just out of long term storage Some minor rust repair needed near wheel openings and around rear window frame Otherwise car is very solid underneath and throughout All original sheetmetal - there are NO panels that need replacement, just minor repair as noted above Underside is rust free Headliner needs to be replaced Spare aftermarket door panels are included with the sale Recent work completed: Fresh tires and wheels painted to match - all (5) wheels Rebuilt and correct Holly carburetor New exhaust from manifolds to back (pics taken prior to new exhaust) This is an exceptionally rare and honest car with lots of options and very desirable colors and extraordinary original condition. Please see link below of car running. ** Please note** engine has a knocking sound at higher rpm which appears to be coming from the #1 cylinder. With some TLC, this car could possibly compete in the MCACN (Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals) in the Vintage Certification Class.
Matt Harwood
I like these too. Clean and uncluttered without looking like a boy racer like the later Chevelles. A grown-up's muscle car. And kudos to the seller for honestly mentioning the rod knock (which likely makes it very hard to sell at anything near what he's expecting to get). If it could be bought right, you could rebuild the engine (it's just a 396, after all) and detail the engine bay properly. Then you'd really have a very cool car that you wouldn't be afraid to use as intended.
