I like the looks of these a lot more than the Falcon or Dart, Valiant or Chev II's form this period. Maybe it's the carry over of the small fins but these look balanced on their wheels.

Does anyone know if Comets could be purchased new with two-tone paint like this example? 

All the new car brochures I've ever seen show the 1963 Comet in a single color.

Doing a web search I came up with these. Are or were they original? I don't know. The ad says the gold car has a vinyl roof. Did they offer those original. It says the roof has cracks in it so maybe.

For 1963, two-tone paint was $19.40; air conditioning was $270.90.  Vinyl tops begin as a 1964 option, then only on the full-sized Mercury.  After vinyl tops became popular, body/paint shops offered that aftermarket.  There was also that "spray-on vinyl top" which was a heavy, textured material like spray-on pick-up box-liner is now,
