1957 Buick Super 4DR Dynaflow Transmission / Thrust Pad...

Hello all,

I have the problem with my Buick that the Rüclkwärstgang does not funtioniert. After I read that you should check the thrust & transmission pad, I found out that this is probably built a little different for me.

It looks to me that the black holder is installed rotated by 180 °. The rubber pads were probably once cut themselves (makes me at least your impression).

The surface for screwing the thrust bracket is not present with me the Dynaflow transmission is 14 -3/8" long.

Code number A 152.

Can someone tell me what Dynaflow transmission is installed here?

I can not find anything to which this applies. And if there was no thrust pad on the 1957 Super 4DR.

  • MBmax changed the title to 1957 Buick Super 4DR Dynaflow Transmission / Thrust Pad...

The thrust pad on your car does look like it is  home-made, but it looks like the thickness is ok and it is supporting the transmission.  When the thrust pad disintegrates and the rear of the transmission drops down, that is when it effects the adjustment of the shift linkage and impact the shift into reverse gear.   You probably have to look elsewhere for your problem.  Maybe a linkage adjustment is needed?

It can't be due to the linkage either. If I unhook the linkage and shift the engine directly at the transmission, the reverse gear does not work either. Possibly it could be due to the reverse Band.

Unfortunately, I can not find this out quickly.

But I am still surprised which transmission is installed there. I can't find anything that looks anything like it. Yesterday I loosened the two screws of the lower rubber pad. After loosening the second screw came me the gear oil entgegengeschossenen 😕
