To remove the engine a spreader bar must be used to wedge the frames apart. however this will not solve your misalignment problem. These old frame are like a ladder with no cross frame support. Any accidents can diamond the frame. I would use a plumb bob at the corners and put marks on the floor to measure the diagonal dimensions to see if the frame is square.
