Graham Man
Always wanted a steam car, but no idea what they are worth, saw this one on facebook, he wants 100K. Guessing a boiler sitting since 1976 long can be bad. Since it is a pressure vessel do you need to have the state boiler inspector inspect it? I run a 1914 Case steam engine, I need a boiler license and the boiler needs to be inspected yearly. 1909 White Model O steam car restored in the mid 70"s. Last ran in 1976. Stored since. Car body is excellent, black work needs to be refinished, Leather interior excellent. Have Headlamps, cowl lamps, and windshield. Tires have little or no wear.
John_S_in_Penna
One of our forum goers, with user name "JAK," is a steam car expert. I hope he sees your query.
brasscarguy2
try contacting Rob Willams in Boise, a member of the HCCA. He has owned a couple of White Steams and is very knowledgabe . He most likely know the history of the one you are thinking of. brasscrguy
1937hd45
With everything there that asking price sounds fair. Stanley and White are two different animals Ford vs. Ferrari. Good luck with it. Bob
alsancle
That is a 20hp white. I’m guessing there is a buyer in the 50-75k range. There have been running examples sold in the 75k-100k range. Steam cars are expensive but trade in a narrow market.
StanleyRegister
The White steam generator isn't really a pressure "vessel." It's basically a long continuous tube. No pressure vessel inspection would be needed. There are enough Whites around that there are people who make these generators if needed.
