F35 / F36 ignition timing

Hi,

I’m trying to start my engine would anyone have the firing order and distributor cap numbering for each cylinder?

also what compression should I have?

I have a L-37 and the firing order is stamped on the exhaust manifold. The other info I cant help.

The large cap is the same as mine with no numbered terminals, I just haven’t been able to find what goes where.

Check what cap terminal the rotor is aligned with when piston of cylinder #1 reaches TDC on it’s compressipn stroke and take it from there ->  1-5-3-6-2-4

Also pay attention to which way the rotor turns. The firing order goes in the same direction around the cap.

Thanks everyone I was able to get it started and running, number 1 is approx ten o'clock position,l will post A pic later for future reference

For the record, and for people who may read this in the future, even when we KNOW what position #1 is supposed to be in, on many engines it is possible change it (get it wrong) if the piece with the distributor drive gear on it is removed from the engine. That could be the distributor itself, or the oil pump depending on make and model. Sometimes people over the years have screwed it up during an overhaul, not realizing it is only supposed to go one way, and find it easier to move the wires around than take the oil pump back off. There is no guarantee that #1 is still where the auto manufacturer put it. That is why it is always best to check the way @Peter R. suggested. Then you know.
