NotLeeIacocca Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Hello, Some time ago I saw a Chrysler history video on YouTube which showed semi-built TCs being loaded into an airplane to go to Italy for additional assembly. The TCs were in a cradle. I was fascinated by that, and I have wasted too many brain cells at night trying find that video or just an image. Please, can somebody share a link? Thanks in advance.
ghostymosty Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Would not have been a TC, built in Italy with some components shipped from U.S. (two separate, close locations if I remember correctly) and shipped completed by boat to the U.S. The Cadillac Allante was partially assembled in U.S. then shipped to Italy and finally shipped by plane back to the U.S. 1
cowancom Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 (edited) The last TC's sent to the US DID catch a ride on the GM Alante 747 cargo plane. They went to New Jersey and sat for 4 months or so. Most were used as Chrysler demo employee cars. In 1991 if you worked for Chrysler in management....you were going to drive a TC for a while. If you STILL worked for Chrysler in management in 2007 you WILL drive a Crossfire. History repeating itself. Total loss on the TC program....$11000 per car made. Total loss on the Crossfire program....$14500 per car AND Karmann out of business. Edited December 18, 2021 by cowancom (see edit history) 1 1
