Phaeton or Convertible?

This picture shows a 1937 Ford that belonged to a friend of mine who passed away earlier this year. All four doors on the car have roll up windows, is it correct to call this car a four door convertible or a four door phaeton?

Does it have wind up windows? If so, 'convertible' sedan.

Yes the windows do roll up. If this is a convertible sedan what is a Phaeton?

About the same thing as what they called a "touring car" in the teens, but of the same era as your car. Typically there might be some side curtains but no roll up windows (although the Buick phaetons of the mid and late 30s did have roll up windows so I guess that isn't set in stone).

I call this a tourer, no roll up windows, as Bloo said, like the '20s cars, Ford people seem to use the term phaetons

In the 1930's, Ford called a 4 door convertible car with no roll up windows a Phaeton. The 4 door convertible car with roll up windows was called a Convertible Sedan. Other manufacturers had different names for their body styles.

A phaeton is like a 4 door Roadster, no roll up windows.  Uses canvas side curtains instead of roll up windows.  I think Ford made them thru 1937.
