Wind Wing mounts

I found these wind wings but I don't have the mounts to mount them to the windshield of our 1918 touring car. I was wondering what everyone else uses. If I can't find regular, period correct mounts for them I'd like to get some ideas a to what non-typical types of mounts everyone is using. The bar on the wings has a diameter of a ½". Thanks for any help or input, it's very much appreciated.

It appears there would have been something that had a clamp on each end with one end clamping on the existing bar and the other end clamping on the stanchion.  Something conceptually like this:  https://t-cycle.com/products/2-bolt-double-ended-clamp  This would be the kind of thing I'd search for in random boxes of stuff at Hershey or design an make something on my own.

Using a double ended clamp is correct but the clamp needs to be about 2 and 1/2 inches long for stability if you only use one clamp.

The second more important issue is that the windscreen post on a 1918 car is more oval than round and is tapered top to bottom so, if you were to make one, then one side of the clamp’s two halves can be drilled vertically to clamp the half inch round and the other side could have a tapering V to clamp the windscreen post.

i will send a picture of one later today.

Not pane Mike.

Plane.

As you look at it the hand screw clamp on the arm is almost at 90 degrees to the bolt clamping action for the windscreen post.

I will take more photos later today and try to get a better perspective.

Okay, is this better?

The first shot shows the end cap, secured by two bolts, clamping the windscreen post to the windwing main block.

the second photo shows the knurled hand knob which tightens the side plate to the main block, this clamps the main bar on the windwing.

It is not my car and I am not at home so I am unable to strip these down to show you better angles. I will respond again on the weekend with pictures of my boxes of windwing bits.

Ah, plane, yes, now I get it.  They are nice looking and it's good that the wing tucks behind the edge of the windshield.  I took a photo of this design at an auto show today.  Looks very similar to what you have there Dodgeeramman.

Yes, it definitely looks very similar to what I have. Thanks Mike!

I've got some wind wing mounts that are quite different from the ones that the other Brothers have shown you.  The lady who sold me my car, who inherited it from her father, said that dad had the car serviced at the DB dealer, and she thought all of its accessories were "official" DB stuff.  If you'd like to see my wind wing mounts, let me know and I'll locate them and post a picture (my car is disassembled for restoration).

Hi 68,

Now home but not able to help as I thought.

I have plenty of bits but all are two point mounts for each side, the only option I have is in the picture below.

These are a two piece clamp with one bolt clamping the bar on your glass and in the slot you can see you fit another bolt to clamp on the windscreen post.

This option is good for all shapes of windscreen posts, the bad news is I only have one side so some casting is in order.

Perhaps the clamps Oregon has for sale would be your best option.

Good luck.
