Bills Auto Works
Hello Everyone, I usually build my cars, but this time I purchased one that doesn't need much. The older I get the more I like the oddball lower production stuff you don't see much of. Here is my 1955 Nash Ambassador Custom Lemans. It is a completely rust-free car that someone took great care of over the years. Also some pictures of a few of the other nice rides at the show. Weather was perfect & this was the first time driving the car so I was glad that it made the 35 mile round trip successfully. Steering box needs rebuilt as it has lots of play & all the shims have already been removed. Low speed steering was interesting, but the car road like a dream at 55-60 on our country roads! It also needs a fuel pump, water pump as well as a couple of pot metal pieces chromed. The only other plans for it over winter are to detail the engine compartment & the trunk. Kind of nice to have one that I didn't have to do a restoration on! I am also blessed to have a girl (Laura) who loves the cars, cruises, shows. I can see next year she will be driving one of the cars to the cruises & shows (probably the XLR-V with the roof down!😄) God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/nationwide-single-car-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/

rocketraider
When I sent my Pontiac bud the 64 GP pic, he went to his storage unit to make sure his was still there! I like oddball stuff as I get older too.

Bills Auto Works
Thank you Gentlemen! It could not have been a better day...weather perfect & that was a first time show for Spencer. They had an 140+ car turnout, which I think is pretty darn good. The charity took in some much needed money & I think everyone had a great time. Personally I got to spend a few hours with my girl, a few old friends & made a few new ones....Can't ask for much more than that!!!! As far as the car goes, after putting some miles on it I am confident that after I fix the few issues it will easily make the 100 mile round trip to the area where I grew up (western Suburbs of Cleveland) where most of the cruises & shows I go to normally are located. car crazy
In the 70's, Dad had an identical year and color '55 in West Palm Beach, but it was a Nash Ambassador Custom with the Packard V-8 and factory a/c.Was so unusual. Actually would love to own it today.

There was a gentleman who had worked at SMS in Oregon for 8 years at the show Sunday & he told me my door panels were all original! Of course the seats had been redone, but I failed to ask him if the material was correct. Lots of guys like AC, but I do not, so I am glad mine does not have it. Of course the more options the better though. On another forum a gentleman posted a picture of a pair he was going to build at least one from, the one in the worst shape had power windows & for a split second I thought about inquiring about buying that car as a parts car, but then common sense prevailed! I am building 4 cars all at the same time already, the last thing I need to do is make more work for myself when I don't have enough time to do what is already on my plate! Pretty sure I don't have any pictures , but I remember them very clearly-the seats were off-white in color, leather with fairly full brocade inserts. Original, and in great shape. You could tell it was an expensive car for it's time. No power windows, however.. Bills Auto Works
I was pleasantly surprised over the weekend when the old girl won an award at a car show! The really cool thing was that it was not a trophy (I have plenty of them in a box up in the attic). All awards handed out at this charity show were made by the the guys from the club & ironically being a painter mine was a custom painted thinner can with the iconic "Rat Fink" God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/nationwide-single-car-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
