Hubert_25-25
This is the process that I went through to recreate the original interior for my 1925 Buick Standard Touring. The touring cars came with leather upholstery. Enclosed cars were mainly cloth interiors except perhaps on some higher end Buicks. My interior was a "close" JC Whitney type vinyl interior that was installed in the late 50's when interior kits were available. There are no kits today. It's all done from scratch. The place to start is finding photos of an original interior, then you can count the number of seat pleats and calculate the pleat width, or if you are lucky, an owner with an original car will give you a few dimensions. Earlier Buicks are very similar to what is shown here as you will see if you also follow Mark Kikta's 1922 Buick Upholstery. Buick even pleated the seat bottom skirt back then. I have been meaning to make this posting as this is months of work but I hope to save others some time as they go thru the process. Thanks for the help regarding originality from Mark Kikta, Larry DiBarry, Leif Holmberg and especially David Coco's advise on how to sew this all together. Sorry that the site only lets me post .jpgs, so the word and power points have been converted for posting. This is a lot of preliminary information (1 of 2), so be sure to see the next posting as well.
