Weatherstrip installation question

Has anyone installed the beltline door window weatherstrip on a 40's Buick?

The weatherstripping that I got, and supposedly came from METRO, seems to have a bead of bitumen or something on the backside? How are you supposed to fix this weatherstrip on the chrome reveal molding? The OEM's were stapled on, but how about these? Is the backing material something that melts when you apply heat, or what? Any experience or advice?

That's a real problem, which is why I usually don't bother to replace these pieces. No, it does not attach with heat. Sometimes you can drill a hole and wire it on with very thin wire, or use a very small sheet metal screw, but you have to remove the moulding it attaches to, in order to drill a small hole.

Cars,Inc. And Bob's Autombilia both have very small screws to attach this w/s. You have to drill very small holes in the frames and w/s. I held them together and let the same drilling work for each one. It is very tedious, but does a good job.

Point taken, thanks a lot. I quess the bead on the backside is for sealing against the chrome molding. But I'm still wondering, as the chrome molding attaches to the window aperture with screws, along the same lower flange where the w/s is supposed to be screwed on. Should I drill the same holes thru w/s thru chrome molding thru window aperture? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
