Piotr M
Dear Colleagues, I got an issue about a 340 engine in my 1930 LaSalle Coupe. Huuuuge problem. In 2015 I purchased a fully original and matching numbers LaSalle coming originally from Southern California. If you check on YouTube just "1930 LaSalle Coupe" there is my car in "as found" condition. Since then I done a lot of work on in. All the body work, upholstery, paint, wood etc etc. Engine also. But just latelly, when I started to work on interior details I realised that the block of an engine got an awful crack. And every time when I look on it it seems to be longer and longer. I asked about opinion of several V8 engine specialists here (yes, correct we got some of them in PL too ) and some of them can take this job but nobody could guarantee that this gonna be fixed for more then 1-2 hour ride. Temperature of working engine can destroy their works. And and engine can crack in different place. So, I need an advice. What to do ? Do you think I should put a more modern engine instead? Frankly i did not like resto-mods Any other idea? I really appreciate your advice and comments. Regards Piotr

edinmass
Should be easy to fix. The cylinders unbolt from the crankcase. They can be easily removed with the lower end in the car. Wayne probably has parts available. It’s more of a time issue than anything else. Cracks can be stitched most of the time. Not difficult or expensive, you need the right guy for the job...........and there are lots that claim they can do it, but most aren’t capable.Nice car, keep it stock......
