Correct amp gauge reading with engine running for 1950 Plymouth

My amp gauge shows zero with my engine at idle. With lights on it shows a very slight discharge just to the left of zero. Is this correct?

I have two 41's your operation sounds like both of those. Key in the on position, my AMP measures left of  zero. I look for that to happen every time before I start them. I also use the AMP gauge to adjust my CHOCK settings on a cold start as well.
