1991 Custom Cruiser smells like rotten eggs at idle

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone had a similar problem. I have a 1991 Olds with the small V8 and 59K original miles. If it idles too long, the converter starts churning out rotten egg odor. I had a local dealer run a diagnostic and they told me it needed a new thermostat and a bunch of adjustments such as timing and then quoted a huge price. So I replaced the thermostat and temperature sensor. The smell persists the same as before. It passed the State of IL polution test, don't know how, but it did. Any ideas would be appreciated. mitchromanowski@lightfirst.com
