Lincoln Mark III 1971 only 54,000 miles - cars & trucks - by owner -... (craigslist.org)

1971 Lincoln Mark III with only 54,000 miles. This is truly a rare car that was in storage for 30 years. Since the car sat for so long many, many parts were replaced to make it road worthy again. Brake system, tires, dual exhaust, hoses, belts, pump, carburetor, fluids, etc. Car runs and drives like new. Everything works except the original stereo. Comes on but no sound. This was Lincoln's Flagship model in 1971. To own a Mark III you were somebody of importance as this was thee luxury car to have. Comes with a powerful 460 CI V8 with 375hp. The Mark III is a true collector car with big future potential.

"This is truly a rare car," the seller figures.

But if he were more active in the hobby, he would

see that Mark III's, on the contrary, are extremely

common.  A buyer at any time even has his

choice of colors.

This is a good-looking car, and the blue-and-white

color scheme is definitely less common than the

earth-tones of that era.  Thanks for bringing it to

our attention, Mr. 58L.

"This is truly a rare car,"

That made me laugh too, any model series of which they built 79,381 over the three model years can hardly be considered 'rare'.   The survival rate is relatively high to the point it possible to select the color combination one prefers then just wait for it to appear for sale.   I do recall a few in this metallic blue with white top combination back in the day.
