BarryM Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 I have just purchased a 1933 KA. Does anybody know where I could access or buy a shop manual and an owner's manual?
a griffin Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Congrats on your purchase. Stating the obvious, and I'm sure you've checked already, but reprints pop up on the typical internet sites. There's a "book of instruction" as well as a chassis parts book that provides some helpful diagrams. The latter is not year specific, though.
BarryM Posted June 29, 2021 Author Posted June 29, 2021 Thanks. It is good to know that manuals do exist. I will keep looking. This is my first pre war car so the learning curve will be a bit steep. The first issue that has jumped out is the mechanical (!!) brakes which pull aggressively to the right.
AB-Buff Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Hi Berry. The book of instructions (owners manual) is a little difficult to find I would recommend searching eBay, may take months to find. But David Clement in the Lincoln Owners Club has them. They are a little pricey. But it’s a very good book to have. Also through the Lincoln Owners Club there is a set of service manuals that covers from 1931 through 39K and some Zephyr. They are also worth getting. I can’t remember what the price was or who to get them from but that information I believe was in every fork and blade issue. Post some pictures of your Lincoln. We’d love to see it. Lynn
BarryM Posted July 6, 2021 Author Posted July 6, 2021 Thanks for the input. I found a "Book of Instruction Lincoln V12 - 136" -- first edition, printed January 1933. The people at the club library scanned it for me last Friday. As you say, it is a very good book. Finding it made my day!! I do understand that there was not a specific shop manual for the car but on your encouragement I will keep looking for the service manuals. My car is the one recently sold by Dragone (pictured in the latest "Fork & Blade"). I will post pictures soon.
AB-Buff Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 (edited) I’ve got a friend restoring a 33K a Roadster right now. I’ll check with him to see if he’s aware of the shop manual, he’s pretty up on that type of stuff. I’ll get back with you. Still want to see a photo of that car! L I just checked with him. He knows of nothing. Would love to know if there is one. Edited July 6, 2021 by AB-Buff (see edit history)
John Kelso Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 So far as I know the Book of Instructions and the service bulletins sold by LOC are about all there is. Jack Levant had the parts information. Nice car you got ! 1
AB-Buff Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Hi Alan. It’s a fun one. But just like Matt hardwoods. Lots of years of neglect in semi Standard maintenance. At least in the last few years. But we’re sorting it all out and having fun with it. How is your project coming? Lynn
John Kelso Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Hi Lynn, Should have the 33 done very soon. Mostly detail work at this point. The 36 wood work is on the back burner till then. Alan 1
