Amphicar BUYER
Sunday, Jan 19th, I was at Carter lake (in Colorado) in my Amphicar and the wind came up (45+MPH) so I was forced to beach it because I knew I may not make it to the ramp about 1/2 mile away. I was bombing through 4' waves that were breaking over the roof! I ended up "surfing" the car onto the shore and getting stuck in the sand. At one point, the front wheels were out of the water between the waves! There was a 12" drop off from the beach erosion that I wasn't sure I could get over. I didn't have any choices other than to go for it. The waves were big enough that it carried my car well above the drop off. The attached pic doesn't really show how big the waves were. WOO HOO! Maybe the attached pic will help those who think Amphicars float like a rock!
D Binger
That looks a lot like the South end of Horsetooth to me. Glad you had a good time in the great weather we have in this part of the country.Dan

The water there is so low, it's good thing my boat has wheels!
D Binger
John,I am not sure when the dam will be finished with the repairs. If we don't get some snow soon there will be no water to put in it anyway. Then you will be glad to have wheels on that car. The last time I was by there was last May and it was scarey looking with very little water in it. Pray for snow and lots of it.Dan
R W Burgess
Snow? The man wants snow? Come over here to Virginia, we got lots of snow, better yet pay my truckdriver and he'll bring it to you. He's tired of looking at it hisself. Wayne
ex98thdrill
Snow??? Who wants snow?? Snow brings salt, salt brings rust, rust takes time to fix, time costs money . You can come to New York and have all of mine . I can't play with the iron when it snows and I haven't seen green grass and leaves in two years . I've got that new harley begging to be ridden but can't because I've got the snow you wanted . Guest c.johnson
No snow in the valley of last years Winter Olympics, and a wonderful 50 degrees today - almost a record for this time of year. I wonder what the summer will be like - maybe hot and very dry? cj
Amphicar BUYER
SNOW? Wazzat? Yes, we want snow and LOTS of it!!!! Most of our resevoirs are at <60% of normal. The grass in my front yard that I paid several thousands of $$ for just 2 years ago is dead and unrecoverable from the worst draught in 113 years. We need 12' (yes FEET!) more of snow in the mountains just to be even for the year let alone the future. Here in Colorado we don't use salt, we use mag-chloride. It supposedly doesn't cause damage. It does wash off easily. I would certainly rather fix a rust spot than not have water! People here are painting their lawns green! (no joke)I WANT A BLIZZARD! We haven't had one for 5 years and that is not normal at all. Last one was only 23", pretty lame at that.John
