Cannister Type Partial Flow Oil Filter

The restrictor is on the inlet side.  That keeps the pressure down in the canister to prevent big leaks from the lid.  The restrictor is 0.045” to 0.060” diameter.  Flow at 30 psig indicated will be a quart or two per minute when hot.

On a Pierce, it’s a smaller orifice. But the engine that uses the bypass filter is earlier.
