William Romoser
I'm moving to Dallas shortly and was wondering if anyone knew any shops/mechanics nearby that specialize in pre-war cars (cars of all eras, so any specific era would help greatly). Thanks in advanced!
John_S_in_Penna
William, in case you don't get many answers here, you could contact the AACA region that covers the Dallas area and ask them. Being local, they should know whether there are any. You may get a few answers and opinions. I don't know those regions myself, but looking at the list, I see the current President of the Texas Region is from Plano: https://www.aaca.org/Community/regions-a-chapters.html The link above, from national AACA, has the most current information. http://local.aaca.org/texas/ The region must not update its website very often. The calendar of events dates to 2019, and the name of the President is different. In fact, part of the website is old enough that there is even a third name as President! John_S_in_Penna
Evidently, there are some owners of pre-war cars in that region. If you click the link to their website, then "Photo Gallery" on their website, and then on the event "Bug Tussle 2010," you'll see pictures of several pre-war cars at that event. So there is some pre-war knowledge for you, I hope. The last event for which they posted pictures was in 2013. But that 2010 tour looks interesting.
Robert G. Smits
In addition to AACA I would look for specific car clubs for different makes. I know Dallas has a very active Cad-Lasalle, Mopar and Corvette clubs. Don't overlook Hot Rod Clubs. When I moved to College Station 12 years ago I joined a active Street Rod Club. They have been very helpful.
