My impression is that 1973 Centurion convertibles are pretty easy to locate, but that any other Centurion model is very scarce. People tend to gravitate to, and preserve, the more "glamorous" models, so the other models gradually disappear. And Buickfan83, you might give more information: What parts of the country? In excellent or rougher condition? For example, if you're in Vermont, you might not want a car in New Mexico or British Columbia. I owned a 72 formal coupe and while restoring it the frame broke in half and landed about 6 inches from my gut as I was under the car trying to die grind something off. It was a rare triple black car. The bottom line is these were mostly boring models for years save the convertibles. Transportation. Who still has them in nice condition? But overall the survival rate is an indicator of demand and opinion in a macro sense. And the result is few remaining examples in any condition. Centurions used to be a twice weekly search 5-10 years ago and I found 3 kinds, and even then rarely - true beaters that someone started to restore and bailed, nice driver convertibles, usually 1973 Centurions, and a few low mileage convertibles. The formal coupes by and large, are gone. I get it when you put "boring" in a post naysayers will comment, but it's no different then stating Casino Beige is a bad color choice. It's just a comment on a forum to discuss a car. Obviously I love Centurions too but there has to be an explanation for their disappearance on the market, I think it is because they are competing against the muscle cars of the era. In 1978 I had a good friend who's mom drove a pristine 72 Sherwood Green 4 door Centurion. That is what hooked me on the cars. I was 14 years old. Y-JobFan Posted June 5, 2021 Share Posted June 5, 2021 Original production numbers were not huge which also hampers finding one, there was a fraction of formal coupes built in comparison to LeSabre coupes. sales of Centurions were closer to the sales of Wildcats of the later years. Also cars cars of that era got traded off quicker due to the gas crunch and didn't stay in the hands of the original owners as long so hit the used car market quicker and entered an era where cars were disposable and with the huge shift in style of cars from GM in 77 the early full size 70's cars became obsolete much quicker than in earlier years. Unfortunately over the years lots of them were raped for their 455's for people wanting to upgrade their Skylarks into fake or poor man muscle cars. The owner was from Columbus, Ohio. You could get a copy of the program from that 2016 national meet and see who registered it; then look up his name in the Buick Club roster and talk to him about it.
