Guest
I would very much appreciate talking with someone who can tell me how to set the engine timing on my 31 Chrysler 8 cylinder car. My distributor is the type that has two sets of distributor points, and I have been told that if the timing isn't set correctly, you can do some serious damage to your engine ( The person who told me that said that he had that happen to his 35 Nash many years ago, in which case he said a connecting rod went through the engine and he blamed it on not having set the timing correctly!! That sounds kind of crazy, but if there is something to it, I sure don't want to take a chance in blowing up my engine. If this is a subject that we can best discuss by telephone, please email me your phone number, and I will contact you on my dime. My email is archie@intercom.net and my phone number is 410 745 4249.I would be very grateful for any help someone can offer me.Thanks for your interest!!Archie
cmj
Best bet is to find someone that has an old sun distributor machineand set up the points on it. Some of the old independent shops still have one. This will also show if there is any wobble, worn bushings, etc in the shaft
